FAQ

Brazilian / Bikini FAQ

Why should I go to someone specializing in Brazilian / Bikini waxing?
Metrowaxx does over 2000 Brazilian / Bikini waxes a year. With this amount of experience, we can provide the best wax in town.
Should I trim my pubic region before coming in?
No, the more hair the better. There needs to be at least 1/4 inch of hair growth for the wax to stick properly.
Is there anything I need to do after a bikini wax, brazilian wax or Hollywood wax?
Yes, you should not exercise the day of your wax. This will allow the follicles to calm down and minimize irritation. It is strongly recommended to use a loofa pad every time you bathe to minimize ingrown hairs and to avoid deodorant soap.
How long should I grow the hair in my pubic region before coming in?
We recommend at least 2 weeks of hair growth or 1/4 minimum of hair growth between waxing sessions
Why does it matter if the person waxing me is experienced or an esthetician?
Estheticians are professionals who are trained for a minimum of 500 hours just to become licensed. Most importantly, estheticians are licensed to perform waxing. Cosmetologists are also licensed to perform waxing. An esthetician has better knowledge of skin and a cosmetologist has better knowledge of hair. Keep in mind, waxing is not just the act of removing hair, but sculpting and shaping the hair for style as well as knowing how the follicles will react to the service.
This is embarrassing for me, is your spa large and crowded? What if I see one of my friends?
MetroWaxx is a small, family owned clinic in a private setting. Rarely do we have more than three customers in the shop at once - so chances of seeing someone you know are very slim. All services are confidential and in a closed room. We respect your privacy and want you to be comfortable with your waxing service. Our estheticians specialize in only waxing services, especially in Bikini and Brazilian waxes. Rest assured, you are in good hands.
How bad does bikini waxing or brazilian waxing hurt?
It hurts a little, especially the first time. Everyone is different, but we can tell you that it is not like in the movies. As you have more sessions, it will become less painful. Remember, our estheticians specialize in only waxing services - this means much less pain than with someone who is not devoted to waxing.
What type of wax do you use?
We use both hard and soft waxes. Hard wax is best used in places like nose, ears, or other locations with extremely coarse hair. Soft wax is best used for large areas or finer hair. The size of the area or the hair texture will dictate the type of wax we use.
I'm having my period! Can I still get a wax?
Yes! This is a common situation. As long as you are wearing a tampon, we can work around the string.

Face / Brow FAQ

Why waxing as opposed to other methods of hair removal?
Waxing offers instant results that last longer than shaving without the chance of razor burn and without the itch of hair growing back in. It is inexpensive and safe. Compared to laser hair removal, it is faster to have performed, and is cheaper. Both waxing and laser hair removal have some discomfort in the process.
Will waxing make the hair grow in stronger and thicker when it grows back?
No, the hair will actually grow back finer, lighter, and softer than before. If you stop waxing however, and go back to shaving instead; the hair will grow back the same thickness and the same rate as it did before waxing.
Will waxing give me a rash?
In rare instances, some people may develop an irritation of the skin in the affected area. The irritation is normally temporary and is the exception to the rule. This condition normally goes away as the person gets more used to waxing. If an irritation does appear after waxing, we will advise the client on how to treat and prevent any further complications.
How long will waxing on the face last?
Everyone is different. The average is usually monthly.

Back / Chest FAQ

Is chest waxing or back waxing like in the movies?
Absolutely not. Although very funny to watch in the theater, any waxing procedure (even brazilian) is not as dramatic as in the movies. It will hurt a little the first time, but it normally feels like a pinch similar to removing a bandage.
Will waxing make me break out?
It is possible especially in the chest area. With at home maintenance any acne should be minimized.
How long will the waxing results last?.
Everyone is different. The average is usually 4-8 weeks.
Is there any time that waxing is not advised on the chest, back, or arms?
If you have a skin condition you need to consult your doctor first before waxing. It is not advisable to wax over a sunburn.
Will I bleed when getting a back wax, chest wax, or arm wax?
You may spot bleed a little at the hair follicle, so you may not want to wear your favorite white shirt to your waxing session.
Is there anything I need to do after the wax?
Yes, you should use a natural loofa sponge when you shower. This will help to prevent any infected hair follicles. If you do not own a loofa sponge already, we have them available for sale.
Should I trim or shave my back, chest, or arm hair before I come in?
No, the more hair the better. There needs to be at least 1/4 inch of hair growth for the wax to stick properly.
Do males actually get their backs or chest waxed? I don't want to be the only guy at the gym with a smooth back or chest.
You would be surprised how many men are afflicted with the problem of ugly excess hair who get waxed normally. Waxing is just one of those things that many men get done, but they just don't normally talk about it.
Have you ever made any guys cry?
No, not during session. Only when they see how beautiful they look - LOL.
